Understanding your risk levels is critical as you build your COVID-19 prevention plan (CPP). Who is a high-risk employee? How do you decide if a potential contact is low risk? Â
In this video, we will identify employee risk levels based on CDC guidelines. The information presented here and the definitions of risk levels will be a part of your workplace training.Â

According to CDC guidelines, these are the risk levels based on coming to contact with a symptomatic or asymptomatic person:
- Briefly walking by a person who tested positive for COVID-19 and was not experiencing symptoms is no risk.
- If you are in the same room with a symptomatic person who tested positive for COVID-19 and you are within 6 feet, it is low risk.
- If you had sustained close contact (15 minutes or longer) within 6 feet of someone who tested positive for COVID-19 and is symptomatic, it is medium risk.
- If you have had close household contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, it is high risk.Â
